(01) Software development · Liverpool L3
Most firms that ring us are running on one spreadsheet that a single person understands. We build the portal, platform or integration that replaces it. The price is agreed before a line of code is written.
(02) Who runs it
The job that started this one was a hire desk in Bootle running on a spreadsheet with 1,847 rows and one man, Kev, who understood the formulas. He went on holiday for a fortnight. The business lost four days of bookings and nobody could say which four.
The Back Office Team Ltd was set up in 2019 by Danny Okonjo and two contractors who had spent the previous decade doing exactly that sort of repair work inside larger agencies. The point was to stop repairing at the end and start building at the beginning.
It did not go smoothly. For the first two years we took anything with a budget attached: brochure sites, a Shopify theme, one ill-advised mobile app. In late 2022 a client asked us to rebuild a booking platform we had quoted at £46,000, and halfway through we realised we had sold them the wrong thing entirely. We finished it at our own cost and changed how we work. Nothing gets built now until a paid two-week discovery has produced screens the client has actually clicked through.
Since then: thirty-one portals and platforms shipped, and eleven of our last fourteen clients have come back for a second phase. Everyone in this trade sells “digital transformation”. We don’t, because it isn’t a thing anyone can buy. What you can buy is the two screens that make the spreadsheet unnecessary.
We do not take on projects under £2,000, we do not do marketing sites for their own sake, and we will not start a build without discovery. If that rules us out, say so early and we will point you at someone in the city who fits better.
Every build ends the same way: someone deletes the spreadsheet. That is the whole job.
(03) Rates, in the open
Starting figures for a Liverpool build team of four. Tap the rows that sound like your project and they will carry down into the enquiry form.
Prices are a starting point, not a quote. The figure is fixed in writing at the end of discovery, once we have seen your data and your edge cases. VAT is not currently charged. If the honest answer is that you need a £900 fix rather than a platform, we will tell you that.
(04) The work itself
By some distance the most common brief we get. Customers, contractors or staff currently email a person, and that person retypes it somewhere. We give them a login, a form, a status and a history — and give you the half-day back. Typically eleven to fourteen weeks from first call to live.
One screen that answers the question the directors ask every Monday morning, pulled live from the systems that already hold the numbers. Usually four to six weeks.
Slots, engineers, vans, rooms, kit. Deceptively hard software — the difficulty is never the calendar, it is the cancellation rules and who gets told.
Accounts talking to CRM talking to the warehouse, with a log you can read when it goes wrong at four on a Friday.
Fifteen years of records out of software nobody supports any more, cleaned, mapped and checked twice before anything is switched off.
Fixed-price work with no discovery, anything where we would be the fourth agency in two years, and crypto.
(05) How a build runs
Forty minutes, free, usually on Teams. We ask what breaks and who it breaks for. You get a rough range at the end of it, not a follow-up sequence.
Paid. Screens you can click, a written scope, a fixed price. Yours to keep whatever you decide next.
Something working lands in your hands every two weeks. No status reports about status reports.
Documentation, the repository in your name, and a month of support included. Then a retainer only if you want one.
(06) Start here
Tell us what the spreadsheet does and who suffers when it breaks. If we are the wrong firm for it, you will know inside the call rather than after three meetings.

We use the details you send only to answer your enquiry and, if you become a client, to carry out the work. The lawful basis is legitimate interests under Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR — responding to someone who has contacted us about our services — and, once a project starts, performance of a contract under Article 6(1)(b). Any non-essential cookie would rely on your consent under Article 6(1)(a) and PECR; we do not currently set any.
Enquiries that do not become projects are deleted after 24 months. Records relating to client projects are kept for seven years after the end of the engagement, to meet HMRC and Companies Act requirements.
Only the people working on your enquiry, plus two processors acting under contract: Proton Mail (email) and our UK web host. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for marketing.
None. Your enquiry is stored on servers in the UK and the EEA, and we do not use any analytics, advertising or tracking service that would send it elsewhere. If that ever changes we will update this policy and name the safeguard relied on before the transfer happens.
Where we rely on your consent — in practice only for non-essential cookies, which we do not currently set — you may withdraw it at any time by pressing Decline on the cookie notice, clearing the entry in your browser settings, or emailing us. Withdrawing it does not affect anything done beforehand.
You may ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or erase it, ask us to restrict or stop processing, object to processing based on legitimate interests, or ask for it in a portable format. Email [email protected] and we will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF, or at www.ico.org.uk. We would rather you told us first.

These terms govern the use of this website and any enquiry made through it. The contracting party is The Back Office Team Ltd, registered in England & Wales under company number 17294731, registered office 2b Midghall Street, Liverpool, L3 2FB.
Software development services: customer and staff portals, web platforms, integrations and APIs, websites and content management systems, discovery and scoping, legacy code audits, and ongoing support and maintenance.
The figures on this page are starting points, not offers. They do not form a contract. A binding price is issued in a written proposal after a paid discovery, and holds for 30 days from issue.
Nothing is bought on this website and no payment is taken here. Work begins only after a written proposal has been accepted by email or signature.
Discovery runs for two weeks from the agreed start date. Build work is delivered in fortnightly releases against the milestones in the accepted proposal, and the final handover includes documentation and transfer of the code repository. Dates depend on you supplying access, data and decisions when asked; where a delay is caused on your side, milestone dates move by the same period and we will tell you in writing when that happens.
We invoice separately after the proposal is accepted: discovery in advance, build work in stages against agreed milestones, support monthly in arrears. Invoices are payable within 14 days. Late payment may carry statutory interest under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
Either party may end an engagement in writing. You pay for work completed and for materials committed up to that date; anything paid for work not yet started is refunded within 14 days. Support retainers may be cancelled with 30 days’ notice. Where a client is a consumer rather than a business, statutory cancellation rights under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 apply and are not affected by this clause.
On final payment, the copyright in the code written specifically for you passes to you, and the repository is transferred into your name. Third-party and open-source components remain under their own licences. We retain the right to describe the work in general terms.
We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Otherwise our total liability is limited to the fees paid under the relevant engagement, and we are not liable for loss of profit, data or business opportunity.
Email [email protected] in the first instance. We reply within five working days and aim to resolve matters without lawyers.
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
